In addition the population is kept informed through the Turks and Caicos Islands’ own TV Station WIV Cable TV which operates in addition to several radio stations.
IT development has proved to be very lucrative. While hardware and software purchases make-up the majority of the IT business in the TCI, there are a number of local IT companies that offer high-end services.
These services include Software Development, Web Hosting,
e-commerce, Wireless/Mobile Internet services.
Alongside an impressive range of accessible internet developers, the TCI has also seen a growth in the number of Internet cafes and public access outlets where visitors can log in, receive and send emails and browse the web. The TCI high-tech sector does offer some unique advantages to IT developers. For example, a few local firms have been able to combine the advantages of the TCI with the ubiquitous nature of the Internet to offer their clients the same discount brokerage services as North American firms, but with the added offshore benefits of security, confidentiality, and zero taxes.
Although the TCI high-tech sector has shown that it can offer the high-end goods and services of the larger IT centres, the "bread & butter" of most local IT companies is still computer network design and installation.
